Description

20011005 branch builds on all platforms.

This is a regression from bug 99222 or bug 101498 ?

Steps:

1. Search LDAP directory only
2. Select the LDAP directory server with incorrect Base DN
3. Mail auto complete

Actual result: LDAP server error message is preselected

Expeted result: Whatever type in remains as is

Yulian, you should be the QA Contact since it applies to LDAP, right?

<LDAP server connection failed> is preselected upon autocompletion and server
error message icon sometimes doesn't display at all.

1. LDAP search against 216.38.134.164 or 216.38.134.163
2. Autocomplete for entry: ma in compose window
3. hanging for a while
4. error message is preselected in the addressee text field

actual result: "ma >> <LDAP server connection failed>" in text field and
sometimes no server error msg icon showing

expected result: "ma" in the text field and server error msg icon shows

Hy, friends. I have been using this navigator since the old "Netscape". I used several Mozilla Suite versions and now, even being the Firefox good, I prefer SeaMonkey. BUT the auto-complete in yahoo-mail (using it's internal address book) is not working and maybe other things like that. Can you fix this, please!?
Thanks for keeping this suite alive and improving.

agree, this happens *sometimes*, when IP address or base dn is bad.

there is also often a short delay/perf hit. You'd think the results would return instantly.

address book bug 116702 (which has a draft patch) is similar behavior.

should both compose and address book use the same code and error message, lest the user get different results in different places?
