hi, would you add following lines to $mozilla/defaults/pref/unix.js
so mozilla will print chinese correctly:
// chinese fonts
pref("print.psnativecode.zh-TW", "big5");
pref("print.psnativefont.zh-TW", "Arphic-MingB5-ETen-B5-H");
pref("print.psnativecode.zh-CN", "gb2312");
pref("print.psnativefont.zh-CN", "Arphic-MingGB-GB-EUC-H");
// end chinese font here

Brian & Kat,
Do you know where can I get the chinese (both Traditional and Simplified) font
chips in order to test this? Thanks!

I forgot who has the chips, me or Brian, but they are not going to
help you with this bug unless "Arphic- .." fonts come with Lexmark PS
printers.
Rui Li, what brand of printer are you using?
In any case, this is a matter of adding these font namews to unix.js
font list for ps printers. It is something bstell can do.
I'm going to confirm this bug and assign it to bstell.

Re-assing to bstell, QA contact to ylong. This bug cannot be
verified directly unless you have the printer which has the specific
PS font. So verification would have to be via inspecting the
unix.js file content and via the original filer of the bug.

bstell- is this the right way to do it?

The current way of handling is documented in this bug, I believe.
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55021
chinese fonts:
cle.linux.org.tw
Printer:
it can not print correct ps file, just use "print to file", and use ps-view
to check .ps file. it's only display some squre.
i hava one hp laser jet 5L, and one epson styus color 600.
i think the problem is it can not find right chinese fonts to print it to ps
file.

bstell/katakai-san,
What happened to the idea of using unixpsfonts.properties
file? Is that working now?
Comment 9•25 years ago
|
||
I've verified again unixpsfonts.properties is working fine even in
chinese locale. Please try the attachment and modify according to
your environment (available fonts).
'squre' means the specified fonts are not usable on your environment.
Could you check "Arphic-MingB5-ETen-B5-H" PS font can be used on
ps-view?

Thanks, Katakai-san.
rui li, can you try out the unixpsfonts.properties file Katakai-san
attached to this bug report by modifying the ps font names to match
your situation?
Place this file as follows under the ..res/directory:
$MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME/res/unixpsfonts.properties
Brian/Kataka-san,
I don't see sample.unixpsfonts.properties file under the ...res/ directory
with Netscape 6.1 RTM or in any of the recent Unix trunk or branch builds.
I don't think this will help users to discover how to use special
PS fonts not found in unix.js file.
I thought the idea is to place a sample file in the $MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME/res
directory. Can you check to see if this is being done?

just add following to $mozilla/defaults/pref/unix.js
everything works fine.
// chinese fonts
pref("print.psnativecode.zh-TW", "big5");
pref("print.psnativefont.zh-TW", "Arphic-MingB5-ETen-B5-H");
pref("print.psnativecode.zh-CN", "gb2312");
pref("print.psnativefont.zh-CN", "Arphic-MingGB-GB-EUC-H");
// end chinese font here

rui li, we know that this works. That is not the issue.
Your PS fonts are specific to your environment, but the unix.js
file is a genreal file for everyone. That is why we have a way
to specify user-specific ps font names. Please try out
$MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME/res/unixpsfonts.properties
file by modifying Katakai-san's sample attachment.
This should work OK and we would not distrub the Unix.js
file which should contain only general settings applicable
to everyone.

what a hack. I have not touch mozilla code for 2 years. I didn't read these bugs
for 2 years. And they are still there. Just close them as won't fix to clean up.
