User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; rv:30.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/30.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20140605174243 Steps to reproduce: Using Windows Vista and TB version 24.6.0, but this has been around since the developers created the menu icon option. 3 bar menu icon > Options > enable all toolbars Menu Bar, Mail Toolbar, Status Bar and quick filter Bar. Menu Bar, Mail Toolbar, Status Bar are all enabled and visible Quick filter Bar although selected is not enabled - not visible recheck toolbar selection - definately all selected via this method. Via Menu Bar: View > Toolbars Menu Bar, Mail Toolbar, Status Bar are all shown as selected. Quick filter Bar is not selected (although shown as selected via menu icon) and it is not enabled, so not visible. Actual results: Via Menu Bar: View > toolbars make sure all toolbars are selected All toolbars including Quick filter are now shown REcheck via 3 bar menu icon > options Menu Bar, Mail Toolbar, Status Bar are all shown as selected Quick filter Bar is now not selected via this method although it is enabled and visible. Expected results: I would expect the Quick Filter Bar to be displayed if selected via 3 bar menu icon > Options. I would expect both methods of selection to be reflected in both methods of enabling the Quick filter Toolbar.
Further checks that may assist: I restarted in TB safe mode with both Addons/extensions and themes disabled. Result was that both the 3 bar menu icon and the Menu Bar methods now show Quick filter as selected and enabled and I can see the Quick filter toolbar. This is correct. So restarted, and manually disabled all Addon extensions, but still using same default theme and restarted. The menu icon > Toolbar method now shows Quick filter toolbar as disabled as previously described. This rules out a conflict between TB and any extension/addon. The only difference is the 'Default theme', which was still enabled. So, it is possible that some incompatibility occurs when using Default theme. I do not have any other themes listed.
If you select to enable Quick filter Bar via 3bar menu icon, it will do the opposite and disable/remove/hide the QF toolbar and also remove the selection from View > toolbars. If you do the opposite and choose to disable QFB via menu icon > options, it will enable the toolbar and show as selected from View> Toolbars.
Can you please try it on TB31 beta? I can't observe any such behaviour on Win XP.
