Created attachment 8453170 [details] Captain Rogers on Fire E screen Produced on a Fire E v1.3. Game doesn't fit the whole screen. Please format the game to fully fit the 4.5inch screen. Please review screenshot and provide potential fix date. Thank you!
That would be very hard to achieve. There are usually three ways to scale the game: 1. Stretch - the game will fill the whole screen, but the aspect ratio won't be preserved, everything will be stretched and look ugly. Not recommended. 2. Cover - there won't be any black screen on the edges, but some of the content will be cut off. Not recommended as you can lose GUI or buttons. 3. Fit - actual solution. There are black stripes, but the ratio is preserved and the game itself is as big as possible and fit into the screen no matter the size. There is also a fourth, magical solution: "responsive" screen management. This is not provided by default by game frameworks and would require a lot of work and effort resulting in rewriting big parts of the game or writing them from scratch. See my article for HTML5 Hub for reference: http://html5hub.com/screen-size-management-in-mobile-html5-games/
This is a development choice rather than a bug - as explained in the bug above. It is the way the most HTML5 games are created and working on a game that will fill the whole screen and keep the ratio on all devices is hard and don't work with every type of game. It is possible in the case of Captain Rogers, but it would basically require rewriting the game from scratch. It would take two or three weeks if I focus on it alone, which I just can't do right now. I would consider it not a bug for a short fix, but an improvement in the upcoming weeks or months. - From Andrzej
This fix may still happen, but is not on the immediate roadmap. Per Andrzej's recent email: " it's like writing the game from scratch, unfortunately I don't have the time to do that right now. I'm considering doing this in the upcoming months as the game is based on ImpactJS right now and I want to use new framework called Phaser."
Andrzej - Although this is not a major issue, I wanted check in and see if this was still something you were considering to implement. please advise.
I won't be working on that particular build of the game, but I'm already developing a totally new one with extra features, achievements and with the new Phaser framework I mentioned - it will be a lot easier to implement the dynamic scaling from this bug using Phaser. The game itself won't be a 100% sequel because the story and the graphics are the same (though with higher resolution), but the gameplay will be greatly improved.
Thanks for the update Andrzej. I am a big fan of Enclave's catalog, so I look forward to seeing the new app, once it is ready. Since this is a minor bug, I am going to close this out as Resolved - Wont Fix
