Steps to reproduce:

Running a DOVECOT IMAP server, viewing mail via Windows Thunderbird 24.6.0.  Previous versions did not work either but it's finally gotten on my nerves.

0) Receive HTML mail
1) Open/Double-Click HTML mail
2) Click "View images"

This seems related to bug 601071 where "3D" is being inserted AFTER an equal sign and an equal sign precedes a line break.  A few web searches have shown that some mail could be mail-formed but I don't think this is the case.  Too many e-mails are failing.  Granted, some are getting through, which seems to indicate that there may be a pattern.  I'll make additional uploads after the initial bug report is entered.
