Details

From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:0.9.5+) Gecko/20011009 BuildID: 2001100903 If I drag-select a portion of of the text in the location bar (e.g. one word in a URL), and right-click on the selection (in order to use the copy/cut/paste functions on the context menu), the entire string of text in the bar is automatically selected before the context menu appears. Picking copy and pasting into Notepad confirms that all of the text is actually selected and not just highlighted, and I am able to copy a partial selection if I drag-select and pick Copy from the browser window's Edit menu. I don't have a context menu key on my keyboard, so I don't know if that produces the same behavior as the right-click in this case. The location bar is the only place I've seen this behavior. It works as expected on all other input fields I've run across (e.g. the fields in Preferences, the fields in the mail account setup wizard). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Drag-select a portion of the text in the location bar. 2. Place the mouse pointer over the highlighted selection and click the right mouse button. Actual Results: All of the text in the the location bar is autoselected before the context menu appears. Expected Results: The text selection should not be altered before the context menu appears.
Confirming on 2001100803/WinNT4.0 Same using context menu key.
The problem occurs whenever you call for a context menu in the location bar, so you can't insert or append text in the bar using the Paste function from the context menu, either.
