When I download a file, the file comes thru ok. Mozilla switches to the stuffit helper then unexpectedly quits. The file then appears on the desk top unexpanded. It can be expanded manually. This happens in Netscape 6.1 also. I have use the helper application selected in the pop up window and the helper application properly chosen.
Mark, This bug seems fixed on the trunk builds... under 10.1 (95% sure) I ran into this problem all the time under 10.0.4 and I can't think of a single instance of this problem under 10.1. Do you have 10.1 or 10.0.4? Are you running the latest nightly build of .9.4?

Hi I have: 500 mhz Indigo iMac, 384 meg ram, CD-RW, Lexmark Z53, I have OSX 10.1 and OS 9.2.1 both installed. I am not sure which version of 0.9.4 I have. It says Build ID: 2001091313 on the top of the page when I start it. I understand that 0.9.5 is out. I'll try that.

I have: 500 mhz Indigo iMac, 384mb ram, OSX 10.1 & OS 9.2.1, internal 56K modem, Earthlink dial up connection, Lexmark Z53 USB printer, Build 2001091313 of MacOSX 0.9.4. The Mozilla for OSX 0.9.5 doesn't decompress. I have found that when Stuffit Expander is not already an active app, that Mozilla will not auto expand the hqx file downloaded. If you start Stuffit and leave it active the file will auto expand. It also seems to be dependant on where Stuffit is located in the file structure. If it is located on the OSX desk top, it doesn't work, the stuffit program has a .app after it. If you put it under the Mac HD it does work and doesn't have the .app on the program name.

Mark, You should try one of the current 094 branch builds (or 095 if the OS X build has been straightened out) as I didn't check in the helper app fixes for OS X until 10/01. Since builds after I checked in have been verified as succesfully launching StuffIt Expander closing bug as WOKSFORME.

Revising summary to better reflect the reported problem. Reporter, you need to attach an OS X crash log for this event.
Summary: Stuffit Expander 6.5 not working properly in mozilla 0.9.4 → Mozilla unexpectedly quits while Stuffit Expander postprocesses downloaded file
Severity: major → normal

I think this is a miss undering in wording.... Mozilla dose not crash it is Stuffit that crashes under this instance. Summary should be something like "Stuffit Expander unexpectedly quits in postprocessing of downloaded file"

mass verification of WorksForMe bugs: to find all bugspam pertaining to this, set your search string to "IfItWorksForSlappyTheSquirrelThenItWFM". if you think this particular bug is *still* an open issue, please make sure of the following before reopening: a. that it's still a problem with ***recent trunk builds*** on the all appropriate platform[s] b. provide clear steps to reproduce (unless a good test case is already in the bug report), making sure it pertains to the original problem (avoid morphing as much as possible :)
