Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:31.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/31.0 When I went to install Thunderbird 31.0 by executing the downloaded Thunderbird Setup 31.0.exe file, I got an error popup that said I do not have permission to install in my selected Windows folder (C:\Thunderbird). Of course I have permission; I updated Thunderbird 24.0.3 to 24.0.4 to 24.0.5 to 24.0.6 from .mar files I downloaded, all in that same C:\Thunderbird folder. My PC is in my home. I am the only one who uses it, so I run Windows as an administrator. Nevertheless, I had to "Run as administrator" to execute the installer file. I have seen this problem with previous updates to Thunderbird from the installer .exe files.
I'm pretty sure this is a duplicate. Please check bug reports in the Toolkit product.

This was a complete installation over a prior version (e.g., via an .exe file), not an update (e.g., via a .mar file). For this, the installer is a component of Thunderbird itself, not a component of Toolkit. I do not see any open bug reports for Thunderbird/Installer (or for Toolkit/Application Update) that describes this problem.

What is the precise wording and/or screen shot please? (would have preferred to see this in comment 0)

I uninstalled Thunderbird 31.0 and then reinstalled it. The problem did not appear. The prior marking of the installer file for "Run as Administrator" might still be in effect. Further testing must therefore wait until the next Thunderbird end-user version is available for installation. (I do not install nightlies or auroras and rarely install betas.) If I still do not see this problem then, I will close this bug report.

> The prior marking of the installer file for "Run as Administrator" might still be in effect. Now, that action would not persist. > If I still do not see this problem then, I will close this bug report. Probablems like this are annoying. I assume you haven't seen this again and I don't see any related currently open bugs** - https://mzl.la/2CYvmzq - so => WFM ** FWIW bug 1133926 comment 8 for similar report in the same time period, long closed

I have done several complete installs of Thunderbird updates (not .mar installs) since my comment #4 and have not seen this problem again. I agree that it WorksForMe.
