* We need good curation systems here * Chris may have ideas on how Gallery Maker can help * Kat: what's the best place to start? What "firehose dashboard" do you have available / would you use now? And how could we make the process better?

Right now, I use the MakeAPI, and different searches on Webmaker by modifying this kind of URL: https://webmaker.org/en-US/search/?type=tags&q=teach-kit,teach-activity&sortByField=likes Improvements: (1) At the moment I can only search for *one* type of entity on the MakeAPI (ie, by tag, or by user name, etc) but it would be great to be able to toggle *more than one* type of search query so I can do advanced searches -- ie #makerparty things that are also "teach-kit". (2) I have also noticed that many Teaching Kits and Activities do not have the "teach-kit" or "teach-activity" tag attributed to them. Why might this be? Will be tough to find them without it. (3) The MakeAPi currently shows fields, not thumbnails -- this would be a great way to search more quickly though, as there are often many versions of the same make (but only one with a final thumbnail image!) Just some initial ideas!
Waving to Chris (Cade) in case you have thoughts on the 3 ideas above!

(In reply to Kat Braybrooke [:codekat] from comment #1) > > (1) At the moment I can only search for *one* type of entity on the MakeAPI > (ie, by tag, or by user name, etc) but it would be great to be able to > toggle *more than one* type of search query so I can do advanced searches -- > ie #makerparty things that are also "teach-kit". I presume this refers to the /search page on webmaker.org? That page is in need of an overhaul and upgrade (there's probably already a bug out there for it). With some design work, we could build a much more robust search UI that can build complex searches. (like the advanced search function Google has) > (2) I have also noticed that many Teaching Kits and Activities do not have > the "teach-kit" or "teach-activity" tag attributed to them. Not sure what's happening here - are you saying that remixes of teaching kits aren't keeping tags? if we can confirm that, definitely a bug. Otherwise people might be getting rid of the tags or starting from scratch and pasting in the template code. > (3) The MakeAPi currently shows fields, not thumbnails -- this would be a > great way to search more quickly though, as there are often many versions of > the same make (but only one with a final thumbnail image!) Are you speaking of the Make Editor tool?

Thanks Chris. In regards to your Q about all of the above, I'm talking about https://makeapi.webmaker.org/admin -- this is the interface I have been using because it is the most robust so far. Happy to use Webmaker.org front-end search though if more functionality was added..
* going to mark this resolved -- then push forward with back-end firehose monitoring work in other tickets.
