The dev server should actually return with a 307 rather than a 301 so your POST isn't transformed into a GET.

IIRC we were reporting a 30* response as a failure instead of retrying with the new address. So yes, it would be good to fix this issue. It should have low priority though as this was not happening on production (AFAIK there are no redirections for the production server).
