I don't think we should use a fully material ui with an unicolored topbar or a floating action button. I just think there are some simple tweaks we can do. For example : - Make the nav bar flat and maybe a bit lighter. - Use a round active state for navbar buttons - Update the menu glyph and use the round menu glyph (instead of the squares) Here are some design guidelines : http://www.google.com/design/spec/material-design/introduction.html

There are existing bugs open such as bug 1042804 and the UI and front-end team are well aware of the design update. There's no need for a bug.
