This bug is invalid (in Mozilla)
This backspace key mapping is removed (since 2001-07-24 with bug 69981)
(backspace/delete is mapped by default to go back)

Yes, there was a mutiny by the back-in-history-backspace-haters, who seized a
moment and switched it off.
Rather than having a war, we just let them do it.
Then a bunch of people who didn't realize what happend got pissed about it
later. Someone filed a bug to say it should go up. A bunch of people mentioned
that you can customize your own hotkeys in mozilla, blah blah blah.
I think there are 4 groups:
- Backspace should go back in history , like IE
- Backspace should go up a page, like 4.7
- Backspace should do nothing except delete chars backwards in a textfield. This
group often mentions that new users may have no idea what happened if they hit
backspace when they thought they were in a textfield but weren't. They also
mention that you'll be able to customize it more easily someday if we have a
front end for customizing keystrokes.
- Backspace doesn't matter to the 4th group one way or another. Either that, or
they're don't care enough to fight one of the other factions.
We don't really have a way to vote for these things, do we?
