Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; WOW64; rv:32.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/32.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20140728123914

Steps to reproduce:

* Boot tablet
* turn off screen blank and lock screen
* connect to laptop running Ubuntu 12.04
* run lsusb

Actual results:

Device list does not included the tablet (Android VID 18d1 DID 0003)

Expected results:

Tablet should be seen
Other devices including Flame work correctly

Tablet IS seen if boot Ubuntu with tablet on and connected. Unplugging it a re plugging it in makes it vanish again.

There were some kernel problems like this but I think have been fixed
Kernel: 3.13.0.32-generic (x64)
Ubuntu: 12.04.4 LTS (as recommended for building firefox OS)
Laptop (Toshiba Satellite RB30-1GZ) has a USB 3.0 port but it makes no difference which port I use. Also tried changing cable
The problem is removed by changing a BIOS setting: "PCI Express Link Active State Power Management (ASPM)" to disabled.

I suspect the tablet hardware is not handshaking correctly so the laptop thinks it is idle and shuts down the power.

I'll leave this open for now.

Ever confirmed: true

I reproduced it too. So, yes we can confirm it.
It can be fixed by replugging in usb cable.
Im slightly confused by that fix as it's hotplugging that causes the problem. If tablet is plugged in and on during laptop boot it works. Once unplugged after rebbot I found no amount of replugging fixes it.
Firefox OS is not being worked on
