Steps to reproduce:

After the last security update, I cannot find the calendar on Thunderbird. 
Thunderbird 24.2.0 (2013118082126)
Installed on July 28, 2014. 


Actual results:

Calendar is no longer available. 


Expected results:

Calendar should work as it was before the update.

Which "last security update"? By who? Where? Please provide more information.

TB 24.2 is by no means the latest update. Try to be at least on TB 24.6 and there should be a compatible Lightning calendar for it. Also try to go into Tools->addons and see if the Lightning addon is disabled and why. Click "Check for updates" (to addons) to look for a newer compatible version.
There is also a lightning version for 31
