With bug 693808, single-word searches now go straight to the search results for that word. On desktop, the user is prompted if there's a potential hostname match for the same word, so we may want a similar UI on mobile.
This is a new change in Firefox 33.

As much as this is an edge case, we should probably consider users who are actually trying to get at a hostname. Maybe we could just add a developer tools pref for this.
