Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:31.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/31.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20140716183446
Steps to reproduce:
This occurred as a step in the regular download of the first Firefox 32 beta code.
Actual results:
Update informed me the plugin was incompatible and would be disabled. Looks like it was last updated 7/25/2014 and I had updates to FF31 while it was still beta in that date range. Well, I just checked and the last prior upgrade was July 18 to FF31RC2. Maybe something has changed in the symantec plugin that has made it incompatible with FF. I'm not sure you can do anything, I just wanted you to be aware.
Expected results:
I would have assumed that it would properly install. I have our Symantec person reporting the incompatibility to Symantec as well. I can't disable the plugin by company policy, so I'll stay on 31 but keep trying.

Add-ons from antivirus vendors normally use a technology called binary XPCOM, which requires a new version of the add-on to be built for every new version of Firefox. Release versions of their software generally only include support for the current release version, not beta versions or other branches. This is probably the reason behind that message.
Since you're already contacting Symantec about this, I think all bases are covered and there's nothing more to do here.

I understand. But I've been using sep for about as long (years) as I've been betaing FF. This is the first time I've ever seen it. FYI. I've never had to modify or been notified like this.
