Closing a window or quiting mozilla is really slow. Doing either takes about 10 seconds. This does not happen on any other Mac I have. My computer is a 450mhz G4 cube with 192MB of memory. I have Mac OS 9.2.1, Mac OS X is installed on the same hard drive as Mac OS 9.2.1
tachysx@yahoo.com, please provide more information. Provide the Build ID of the Mozilla version you're using, and the URL that you load into the Navigator window prior to closing it. Also, check what your Disk Cache and Virtual Memory settings are in your Memory control panel.
I am using Mac Mozilla .9.5 which has build ID 2001101117 This happens at any URL My virtual memory is at 193M My disk cache is at the default setting and it is currently calutated on 6144K I installed Mac OS 9.2.1 on another partition on my computer and installed and tried mozilla there and it worked fine, I also installed Mac OS X on the partition and it still worked fine.
tachysx@yahoo.com, on your original OS 9.2.1 installation, are there any third-party extensions installed that might be causing this problem?
One thing I did was to disable every extension except the ones needed by Mozilla. The problem was still there, I also tried removing every file on my computer I could find related to Netscape or Mozilla. Then reinstalling Mozilla. The problem is still there
Is there anything about the G4 or the Mac that is making it any slower than other platforms? See bug 104127, bug 39742, bug 66381, bug 104127, etc. There was also a perf checkin shortly after this bug was filed that should speed up window close somewhat (bug 104328). I'm unsure whether to dup this or let it live as a tracker (note linux window close perf tracking bug 83421 has been fairly useless in that role).
tachysx, can you still reproduce this problem using Mozilla 0.9.6?
