This bug was filled based on the discussion from bug 1000625 comment 60.

Reproducible on the latest Nightly 34.0a1(BuildID: 20140811030203 )
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:34.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/34.0

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open about:preferences.
2. Go to the Applications tab. 
3. Sort the two columns. 

Actual results: The arrows are not shown anymore when sorting the two columns. 

Expected results: The arrows are correctly displayed when sorting the two columns. 

Note: This issue is reproducible also on Ubuntu 13.10 32bit and Mac OSX 10.7.5.
