Steps to reproduce:

Konkani is an Indo-Aryan language belonging to the Indo-European family of languages and is spoken along the western coast of India. It is one of the 22 scheduled languages mentioned in the 8th schedule of the Indian Constitution. It can be written in Devanagari and Roman scripts. 

C-DAC, GIST group's Localization team is working on  localizing Mozilla Firefox in Official Indian languages including Konkani in both the scripts . I did not find Konkani language support for Firefox browser. I would like to contribute to Mozilla Firefox for Konkani language. 

I am Ravikumar Ragam working as a Project Engineer - I(Linguist), NLP team GIST group, C-DAC, Pune. My email IDs are [e-mail] and [e-mail]


Actual results:

Localization of Firefox browser is not available for Konkani.


Expected results:

It should have been included as it is one the scheduled languages of India.

I am unable to see "Konkani" language listed on http://mozilla.locamotion.org/. Is there any reason why it is removed from the list ?

Hi Chandrakant,

That list typically doesn't contain all of the languages that are working on Pootle at a time. I've found the Konkani page using its locale code -- http://mozilla.locamotion.org/kok/

What is curious is that there is no project activated for it. Have you and a team been translating Firefox into Konkani in Pootle until this point? Is this a matter of missing submissions or the project hadn't begun yet?

Hi Jeff. We we like to start contributing now. One of my colleagues cum friend (Ravikumar Ragam) is a volunteer for this language. I guess Dwayne is one who can help me in setting up the project. Request him to do the needful. Thanks.

Still, Not able to download from the link http://mozilla.locamotion.org/kok/firefox/export/zip. The error page says "Permission Denied Insufficient rights to access this page.". Please help.

You need permission to be able to download files for offline translation.  For that we need your Pootle username
