List Name: mozilla.telemetry-alerts List Admin: rvitillo@mozilla.com Short Description: Dumping ground for alerts generated by Telemetry's alerting system. Long Description: Justification / Special Instructions:
Does this need to be a mailing list/Google Group/newsgroup, or would just a mailing list be sufficient? Does it really need to be at the top level if it's simply filled with automated semi-spam? Who is going to look at this stuff? Gerv

A newsgroup would be best as some users explicitly requested it. > Does it really need to be at the top level if it's simply filled with > automated semi-spam? Feel free to change the prefix of the list though if you feel it shouldn't be top level. >Who is going to look at this stuff? Authors of Telemetry histograms. Please also have a look at the discussion on mozilla.dev.platform ("Telemetry alerts for histograms").
How about mozilla.qa.telemetry-alerts? Do you want it to be read-only for everyone apart from the system which submits the alerts? Not sure if we can do that, but I thought I'd ask. Gerv
(In reply to Gervase Markham [:gerv] from comment #3) > How about mozilla.qa.telemetry-alerts? Perfect. > Do you want it to be read-only for everyone apart from the system which > submits the alerts? Not sure if we can do that, but I thought I'd ask. That would be helpful if it's possible. The only sender will be telemetry-alerts@mozilla.com.
OK. Over to server-ops. Ops: what can you do about letting only telemetry-alerts@mozilla.com post to the list? Gerv

(In reply to Gervase Markham [:gerv] from comment #3) > How about mozilla.qa.telemetry-alerts? Why under qa and not dev like mozilla.dev.tree-management? From my experience, telemetry is used way more by developers than QA. > Do you want it to be read-only for everyone apart from the system which > submits the alerts? Not sure if we can do that, but I thought I'd ask. Note that for tree-management developers sometimes reply to the alerts to indicate bug numbers for regressions or at least provide explanations if they are expected.

OK, so let's create it with r/w access.
I created mozilla.dev.telemetry-alerts. Turnaround is typically 24 to 48 hours.
