What feature should be changed? Please provide the URL of the feature if possible. ================================================================================== The Sign Up page, when a user signs in with identifiers - username & email address - that match an existing MDN account. What problems would this solve? =============================== The Sign Up page has some dis-jointed messaging about usernames and emails already in use. Who would use this? =================== Existing MDN users who are connecting a new 3rd-party auth service. What would users see? ===================== A large, personalized prompt that we found an MDN account that already matches their username AND email address. What would users do? What would happen as a result? =================================================== Click "Yes, connect with my MDN profile." or "No, create a new MDN profile." Is there anything else we should know? ====================================== https://github.com/mozilla/kuma/pull/2647#issuecomment-52068389 https://bug1049982.bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=8473236
Interesting thing is, I just tried to authenticate / create an account using my the GitHub signup, and I got an error message saying "there is already a GitHub account with username MYUSERNAME", prompting me to enter a different username. I entered a different username and now have an MDN account with a different username than my GitHub account, even though I sign in through GitHub. And I didn't have an MDN account before this. I find it highly improbable that someone else might have signed up with my same username because it is quite unique...
Hm, is this fixed with the current implementation?
No, see the attachment that is Luke's #2 footnote.
