Details

As a matter of tighter binding and function access, I propose that, upon the "Open File or Location..." dialog ("File" menu), a checkbox option labeled "Open as Source View" be included.
Target Milestone: M14
Move to M20.
You mean the equivalent of a view-source:http://www.yahoo.com in NC 4.X?
Move to "Future" milestone.

Matthew, should we do this?
Once bug 55583 gets fixed, I don't really see the point. Opening the page and *then* choosing `View' > `Page Source' surely isn't that strenuous. If you took this request to its logical conclusion, we'd have UI in the Open dialog for saving, printing, viewing Page Info without loading the page itself, changing the encoding, and a whole lot of other stuff which would leave ordinary people totally bewildered.
There's already an rfe spec to do that somewhere as part of a download manager bug. I think an overlay to do this that all mozilla qa people could get and install would be ok, but mpt is right that we probably shouldn't include this in mozilla trunk.
See also bug 67178 (similar rfe for downloading).
I agree with Matthew. Marking WONTFIX.
