Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:31.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/31.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20140715215003
Steps to reproduce:
- just open a new tab to see the "New tab page"
- than open a site on another tab/window where the tab is permanent changing its sign for exampe this countdown page: http://www.online-stopwatch.com/timer/60seconds/
- start the countdown and go back to the "New tab page"
Actual results:
the "New tab page" begins to flicker until the countdown stops / the sign in a tab not changing anymore
Expected results:
no flickering
I can't reproduce that with FF31 on Win 7.
Could you test:
1) in safe mode:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode
2) with a clean profile:

That timer doesn't work (requires Flash?); no flickering with two other timers.

I installed a new OS version, and so I got a new fresh firefox profile as well. Now the flickering is gone. Probably my old profile was the problem which exist since FF17 or so.
