Steps to reproduce:

Tried uploading a new (beta) version of my add-on.


Actual results:

Add-on file was uploaded fine, but after clicking on "add version" the button grayed out and nothing happened for a long time. (1)
Later I saw the system has registered new filenames (2), but showed no actual files. First I could not delete these file entries, because of server timeouts or displayed error pages.

After a couple of minutes (!) the last uploaded file appeared like it should:

In the last few days AMO servers are VERY unstable and timeout or reset connection too often.


Expected results:

Things should work fine without issues, errors or timeouts.

I've had this happen to me (with all my add-ons) at one time or another ever since I can remember uploading stuff to AMO, but usually it works fine on the second try when I uploaded with another version (because it wouldn't let me upload the same version twice in this case).

But yesterday morning this always happened no matter how many times I tried, the exact same issue as Aris reported in comment 0. I thought I should mention this because this specific situation might not be something recent, but rather something that's been happening for a long time but has been exacerbated for some reason lately because of the issues AMO has been having.

The bug is still present for me.

There is currently a (temporal?) workaround, but I don't know whether is will work for all uploaders or not.

- upload add-on
- hit 'add version' button
- wait...
- wait... (patience)
- wait...
- server returns "version XX.yy already exists"
- cancel upload
- refresh page until the uploaded version appears
- refresh page until the uploaded version shows file(s) in it
(- click on it and add changelog)

I'm closing as duplicate of bug 1058579 given comment 3. Let's focus our attention there!

If someone thing I'm wrong, please reopen (and argue :) ).
