Create a page somewhere (sumo? other?) detailing out why we are providing another choice in the default search provider position and information on how to manage your search provider list. To be used as the landing page for the snippet.

mfinkle, do you have a link to the video you made? Is that public? That could be a useful thing to include in the SUMO article.

Joni - please let me know when you could have something along the following lines prepared. 

Structure:
- statement
- how to change default provider
- how to add other providers
- youtube video as illustration

Please feel free to massage the following messaging (including the voice - not sure if you use 'we' or not), but here's what I'm thinking.

title: 
"Change in default search provider"

statement:
"Firefox for Android is committed to offering choice and customization for our users. This commitment includes evaluating which general search provider occupies the default position. Whilst Google holds a dominant position in Search, we feel that other providers are just as competitive, while also maintaining the same level of privacy that is key to Mozilla's values. 

However, if you have a favourite search provider that you would like to use instead in the default position, this setting is easy to change. Here's how: "

Do we need a sentence to explain what the default means? It could go after the first paragraph above. If beneficial, maybe something like
"The default position provides two benefits for quick and easy searches. The default provider presents search suggestions, and tapping 'go' or 'enter' on your keyboard after typing in a query in the URL bar performs the search using the default provider. "

I thought I would keep it generic (except calling out Google) in case we want to experiment with other providers (other than google) in that space (or even by locale).

It seems that people visiting this article would be more concerned with the technical aspects, so I'd like to suggest that we downplay the statement. Please see the draft for my suggested edits and let me know what you think. Does it cover what we want to say?

My only suggestion would also to say that the default provides the search suggestions displayed. Can you work that bit in?

Karen, thanks for the feedback. I've added this line to the first paragraph: " The default search engine also provides suggestions as you type in your search." Please let me know if it needs any other changes.

Will this article need to be localized? If so, I can let our L10N community know. I don't remember if I had asked this question yet, but I can't find the answer.

yes, the article will need to be localized. We will definitely land this in French, German and Spanish locales first, but I expect we'll be rolling this into most of our supported languages.
