Details
(Whiteboard: [notacrash])
Reproduced on Firefox 32 RC - BuildID: 20140825202822.
Environment: Windows Vista x64, Mac OS X 10.8.5.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Start Firefox with a new profile.
2. Open about:config and set social.directories pref to include https://activations-dev.allizom.org.
3. Load https://activations-dev.allizom.org.
4. Activate a Social App (e.g. Gmail)
5. Use the app for 1 min.
6. Install the "crashme" addon and use it to crash Firefox.
7. In the crash reporter choose to restart Firefox.
Expected results:
When Firefox restarts the Social app still shows and is still functional.
Actual results:
When Firefox restarts the Social app no longer shows (about:addons does not display it). See http://www.screencast.com/t/jfBXQzUaeizt.
Notes:
- repeat by adding other Apps if issue does not show on the first attempt... after 2-3 tries the last added Social App disappears altogether (about:addons does not display it).

This is not specific to socialapi. many things in firefox that happen during a session are lost of there is a session crash.
Severity: major → minor

IS this just a matter of calling SavePrefFile() after provider activation? If so, that might be worth exploring...
