STR
1. Get one of the manifest on http://mozilla.github.io/qa-testcase-data/webapi/apps/ and host it on your own HTTP server
2. Install the app by pointing to your self-hosted manifest via you browser
3. To simulate an app update, in the the mini-manifest, modify:
"version": "1.0" to "version": "2.0" and the package_path to a valid but 404 URL.
4. Check for new version and wait until the notification pop.
5. Update the app.

Expected result
The app update should stop immediately and go to error mode.

Actual result.
The app download runs for at least 10 minutes. See the attached video for the comparision between 2.0 and 2.1 (http://mzl.la/1AYUajU).

Other notes: This fails the test case at https://moztrap.mozilla.org/manage/case/4171/

[Blocking Requested - why for this release]: Regression from 2.0.

Test case https://moztrap.mozilla.org/manage/case/4165/ is failing too. Same behavior if the download is too big (2.1GB) to fit in the memory card : 2.0 put the download in error (OK), 2.1 shows the download state without downloading anything.
