Text for the auto-responder for the new "Technical documentation for developers" category:

Hi!

Thanks for your interest in helping Mozilla with documentation for developers! I'm Janet Swisher, Community Manager for the <a href="http://developer.mozilla.org">Mozilla Developer Network</a> (MDN). We need help with writing, editing, and translating articles, creating example code, and much more. Whether you prefer to work with words, or with code, or with both, whether you're a seasoned veteran programmer or a fresh beginner &mdash; there are ways you can help!

Please see the MDN <a href="https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/MDN/Getting_started">Getting Started</a> page for instructions on how to create an account, pick a task, and start helping.

Please let me know if you have questions!

Regards,
Janet Swisher

New text based on suggestion from Jennie:

Hi!

I'm Janet Swisher, Community Manager for the <a href="http://developer.mozilla.org">Mozilla Developer Network</a> (MDN). MDN's mission is simple: to provide complete, accurate, and helpful documentation for developers who use or create web technologies, whether it's supported by Mozilla-built software or not. If it's an open technology exposed to the Web, we want to document it.

Our focus is documentation for developers by developers. Whether you prefer to work with code, or with words, or with both, whether you're a seasoned veteran programmer or a fresh beginner &mdash; there are ways you can help! We need help with writing, editing, and translating articles, creating example code, and much more.

Please see the MDN <a href="https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/MDN/Getting_started">Getting Started</a> page for instructions on how to create an account, pick a task, and start helping.

Please let me know if you have questions!

Regards,
Janet Swisher

This should not be updated until the new Get Involved page launches. The current auto-responder is for the broad category of "Documentation and Writing", whereas the new text is for the very specific category "Technical documentation for developers". People who select "Documentation and Writing" are not necessarily interested in developer documentation, and should not get this more specific response.

Also, I thought the new autoresponders (linked to the new Get Involved page) were going to be sent via Exact Target, so the current sending mechanism would go away.

All true. Please hold on moving this onto Get Involved until the cut over to the new page (Oct 14)
Jess: This should be the text for this particular welcome message I believe. Are you aware of this? How and where should requests of this nature be filed in future?

I'm WONTFIXing this since this is not a bedrock change, and thus is invalid. But if we have a good place in bugzilla to move it feel free to reopen and move.

Jennie is working on updating all of these inside of ExactTarget. Assigning over to her.

Jennie, if you've already accommodated for this change in the new auto-responder text, please close out.
