Create a 'privacy & security' sound effects theme add-on
For something fun, let's create a 'privacy & security'-themed sound effects add-on that could be promoted in a home panel feeds 'recommended add-ons' page. This way, users have the option to apply it or not in an unobtrusive way. Yet we can still showcase the 'fun' side of fennec ;-) WIN WIN! I'm thinking we can have a sound / notification for the following touch points: - clearing history - closing a private tab - opening a private tab We could go overboard, but I'm trying to restrain myself. We must ensure, however, that the sound respects the phone's volume intents (including mute!). Will add some more ideas to the etherpad.
I don't think we have consensus on this one yet
> I'm thinking we can have a sound / notification for the following touch > points: > - clearing history > - closing a private tab > - opening a private tab Android notifications and silly audibles can be tracked. I wouldn't want these at all. I don't think the audience we're targeting would want these at all either.
This is an add-on. It can be a bit fun and not all serious. And of course it can be turned off. The point is to inject a bit of fun, is all, if we can and show off what can be done. There are a lot of non Western users who love this type of addition.
The fun part makes sense. For our targeted audience, people who are conscious about privacy and security, I don't think sound effects are something they would really appreciate. I suspect many of those people may have their phone muted the entire time. This should be a low priority. Once we have the core things implemented, we can revisit this and see what can be done. But I don't think we will have the time to figure out the right sound design for November 9th.
