If I click on a mailto: link in the browser when the Mail program is not open, a compose window pops up. I dutifully compose my mail and press SEND. I am propted for a login to my IMAP server as a copy is attempted to be placed in my Sent Items folder. After a successful login, I get the error: current command did not succeed. the mail server responsed: SUBSCRIBE failed, already subscribed to mailbox ~/Mail/Sent Items and then the send window hangs forever, with no option to cancel sending unless I kill the window. As another hint, the terminal from where I launcehed mozilla displays Warning prev sibling is not in our list!!! If I am already running the mail program, the mailto: link works without error.
what build are you using?

Summary: Using browser mailto: link with IMAP when Mail not open causes failure → Using browser mailto: link with IMAP when Mail not open causes failure
Apologies, I thought that was auto-submitted! Build ID 2001091217. Was there a place in the form for that? Running on Solaris 2.8, using a contrib binary distribution, with all recommended Sun patches. I did NOT build this myself.
Could you try a newer nightly build - lots of bugs get fixed in a month.
Also reproducible on build 2001102522
Just to be clear: The mail IS sent (SMTP) fine, but the act of attempting to write it to the IMAP "Sent Items" folder if the MAIL AND NEWS is not running is what causes this error. The message does not get written to the Sent Items folder.
Try configuring your Sent Items location in Mail and News Account Settings. IMAP servers are picky about things like that. I had to adjust my settings for it to work. Updating it to the latest version first would be good. Also, if a newer build fixed your problem or you've figured out a solution already, please resolve the bug.
Phillip, does Philip's explanation help or does a new verson solve this bug? pi
As of build 2002053006, now it just HANGS at "Copying Messages to Sent folder" after sending the mail. This is definitely IMAP related. Even if I am misconfigured in some way there should be some error, not just a hang. Remember, if MAIL is open, there is no problem. The problem is only when sending mail from the browser when Mail is not open. I know it is sent (just not copied to the IMAP "Sent" folder. If I CANCEL and try to close the window, the mailer declares that "The message is not sent" (which is untrue, another minor bug) and asks if I want to save it in the Drafts folder. Interestingly, if I try to save it, it wants to save it in Drafts (on the IMAP server!!!) instead of in a local place. So I can't even save the draft if IMAP is broken. Finally, I notice that my FIRST logon attempt is always rejected (!?!) (Logon to server foo failed) But the second one seems to be accepted, although "Saving Messages" dialog box stays up forever. Is there a debug to cature the IMAP conversation? IMAP version header from my server * OK ce-nfs-1.xxxx.xxxx IMAP4rev1 v10.205 server ready On a Solaris 8 machine (Remember, everything works fine IF the mail program is running.)
This has a very detailed description, some expert should look at it -> NEW pi

D'ohhhhh! OK, It *DOES* work now once I corrected the account settings, but I have a new (minor) bug now. I had accidentally set my username to "news.cisco.com" With a username of that form sent to the IMAP server, the first attempte at a password was rejected, but the second attempt (with the same password) hung forever. So there is a response from my IMAP server that seems to be confusing Mozilla into hanging. I can get a dump of teh IMAP transaction log if you can clue me in how to do so. Summary: Original problem fixed, but a new problem is there now. Should I open a NEW bug? Or can we go on with this one?
WFM by previous comment. Please open new bug for new problem. pi
