Thanks for filing this Ben! Someone should be added from PR also.

Thanks,

Anthony - do you have a draft that I can review?

Doh I mean about page

https://openstandard.mozilla.org/about/

changes to copy can be made directly in the admin
Hi - can you give me access to review?
Hi again - I have a revision to this copy:

"The Open Standard is an independent voice celebrating the ideas and opinions supporting open, transparent, collaborative systems at work in our daily lives. By learning more about how open systems work in the world, our hope is that more people seek out, support and adopt the practices and principles that make open systems tick – accessibility, participation and experimentation."

- please delete the phrase "an independent voice"

"The Open Standard is published by, but editorially independent of, Mozilla, the global community of technologists, thinkers and builders working together to keep the Internet alive and accessible, so people worldwide can be informed contributors and creators of the Web."

Please deleted the phrase "editorially independent of".

Mika, the language in the About Us page was based on Chris Beard's directive that it is clear, both internally and publicly, that TOS is not a marketing or PR wing of Mozilla. I worked with Erica in crafting the language. It's important that editorial independence is made clear from the get-go to assure credibility in the marketplace. Thanks

ADC
Hi ADC & Erica - I'll scheduled 15 mins for us to discuss. From a legal perspective, the way the current language is phrased is concerning. What is meant by "editorially independent"? All the editors are employees of Mozilla. How is the Open Standard any more independent than, say, our PR team or bloggers from the policy team?

What do you mean by "independent voice" - independent of what? what voices?

Let's make the language more clear.

Thanks,
Mika
Anthony - once this is final please add the link to the gdoc here and I will update.

Ben, see language below and on GoogleDoc. Assume this is final, per Mika.

The Open Standard provides online news coverage of open, transparent, and collaborative systems at work in technology and our daily lives. Our purpose is to showcase the positive global impact of these systems and inspire more people to seek out, support and adopt open principles of accessibility, participation and experimentation.

The Open Standard is published by Mozilla, a global community of technologists, thinkers and builders working together to promote openness, innovation and opportunity online. We will disclose and be transparent if we take a position on or promote the products and services of Mozilla or a partner company.

If you wish to know more, please feel free to contact us.

A few minor changes to the links.

1. Removed en-us from links to mozilla, locale code should not be in there
2. Changed link from mailto to go to our contact us form.
