RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 808740

People

(Reporter: mozillien, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux i686; rv:32.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/32.0
Build ID: 20140830210657

Steps to reproduce:

I use Firefox OS 1.3 (ZTE Open C), in french.
In the SMS app, I type « C'est OK ? » with a space between « OK » and the « ? » sign.

Actual results:

Auto-correction removes this space. In french typography rules, there is a space before and after two-elements signs, as ? ! : and so on. No space for the one-element sign, as the comma for example.

Expected results:

If I write this space, auto-correction should not remove it.
If I don't write it, auto-correction should add it.
You're lucky, this had just been implemented :) bug 808740

(ok, not so lucky, since it's in version 2.1 that will be out in some months...)

This drove us french developers crazy for years (just look at that bug reporting date...). I'm glad it's fixed now, but sad it was not fixed before launching in France.
