(Reporter: educmale, Unassigned)
Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; WOW64; rv:32.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/32.0
Build ID: 20140825202822
Steps to reproduce:
With TBird running, a software update was discovered (31.1 --> 31.1.1)
I was not present when a dialog box was presented. When I returned to the dialog, I attempted to "View more information about this update", a URL within the dialog box.
Actual results:
Nothing. Since I hadn't seen the dialog box in a while, I thought maybe the code for the URL was broken, and after tooling around I discovered that:
the internet connection was down.
No tab was opened with Firefox browser. No notations anywhere, by TBird or Fox that something was amiss.
Expected results:
I would have expected one of these to occur: a) a notation within the dialog that the internet connection was down, or b) that a tab would open in Firefox, and Fox would report the inability to locate the server
Presumably, this might be addressed in the context of
Bug 1024088 - (TBird) Check for updates reports "Up to date" when disconnected from internet
Bug 701733 - (Firefox) checking for updates in the About dialog does not handle Offline mode
and these two TBird reports:
Bug 1047395 (Add "What's new?" menuitem to Firefox button help menu) or
Bug 1062230 (check for updates [31 --> 32]; updates found; doesn't offer button to review changes) ((not really a duplicate of 1047395, as 1062230 addresses DialogBox and not menuItem))
