on the tools.bmo list, chris peterson questioned our current default of including the DUPLICATE resolution on the advanced search page.

looking at the advanced searches which are being run, only 3.4% of them include DUPLICATES as a resolution. given it's selected by default, that's an impressive result.

we should update the defaultquery parameter so we only search open bugs by default (ie. remove resolution=DUPLICATE from the query string).
I agree - I think this often confuses people. Thanks !
i'll do this at the end of this week.
Have you considered including duplicates of open bugs, but not duplicates of closed bugs?

unfortunately it isn't possible to build a query for that (bug 24957).

fwiw "possible duplicates" has different handling of duplicates - for any duplicate bug with a matching summary, the dupe-of bug is returned (so it's possible to search summaries for X and have it return bugs where none of the summaries contain X).
done.
