This is a minor usability issue, but happens so often that it bothers me:
Search>Search Messages
Click on a horizontal edge of the window and drag to enlarge.
Note that the search criteria pane grows to a maximum size before the search
results pane starts to grow.
This is not particularly helpful, since 99% of the time, I only have one search
criterion, and am enlarging the window in order to see more search results. In
order to get what I want, I have to first grow the window, then grab the
splitter (which is incredibly difficult, since it is such a small target) to
enlarge the search results pane.  And of course, there is no sticky pref, so I
must repeat this process *every time* I search.
Expect: criteria pane starts off minimal, grows only when I add them; window
remembers how I last sized/split it.

reopening.  This is not a duplicate of bug103742. That bug talks about sizing
the criteria box appropriately initiall, and growing it in response to clicking
More, this bug is about growing it, and more importantly growing the search
results pane, appropriately when resizing the window, whether you've clicked
More or not.
