The hebrew text in bookmarks and input fields is shown in such a way that top parts of letters are invisible. In other places the text is shown OK. Attached image shows problem.

What font are you using for Hebrew? What Linux distro?

I have an unstable Debian distro, current font packages are xfonts-100dpi 3.3.5-2 xfonts-75dpi 3.3.5-2 xfonts-base 3.3.5-2 xfonts-base-transcoded 4.1.0-2 xfonts-bolkhov-75dpi 1.1.20001007-2 xfonts-bolkhov-cp1251-75dpi 1.1.20001007-2 xfonts-bolkhov-cp1251-misc 1.1.20001007-2 xfonts-bolkhov-isocyr-75dpi 1.1.20001007-2 xfonts-bolkhov-isocyr-misc 1.1.20001007-2 xfonts-bolkhov-koi8r-75dpi 1.1.20001007-2 xfonts-bolkhov-koi8r-misc 1.1.20001007-2 xfonts-bolkhov-koi8u-75dpi 1.1.20001007-2 xfonts-bolkhov-koi8u-misc 1.1.20001007-2 xfonts-bolkhov-misc 1.1.20001007-2 xfonts-cjk 3.3.6-2 xfonts-cronyx-100dpi 2.3.7-8 xfonts-cronyx-75dpi 2.3.7-8 xfonts-cronyx-cp1251-100dpi 2.3.7-8 xfonts-cronyx-cp1251-75dpi 2.3.7-8 xfonts-cronyx-cp1251-misc 2.3.7-8 xfonts-cronyx-isocyr-100dpi 2.3.7-8 xfonts-cronyx-isocyr-75dpi 2.3.7-8 xfonts-cronyx-isocyr-misc 2.3.7-8 xfonts-cronyx-koi8r-100dpi 2.3.7-8 xfonts-cronyx-koi8r-75dpi 2.3.7-8 xfonts-cronyx-koi8r-misc 2.3.7-8 xfonts-cronyx-koi8u-100dpi 2.3.7-8 xfonts-cronyx-koi8u-75dpi 2.3.7-8 xfonts-cronyx-koi8u-misc 2.3.7-8 xfonts-cronyx-misc 2.3.7-8 xfonts-cyrillic 3.3.5-2 xfonts-greek-ph-100dpi 1.1-4 xfonts-greek-ph-75dpi 1.1-4 xfonts-greek-ph-misc 1.1-4 xfonts-greek-ph-scalable 1.1-4 xfonts-intl-european 1.2-2 xfonts-intl-phonetic 1.2-2 xfonts-pex 3.3.6-2 xfonts-scalable 3.3.5-2 xfonts-scalable-nonfree 4.0.3-2 Besides, I got fonts from Windows NT (Hebrew enabled) used. I have tried many difficult settings of fonts, my current settings for Hebrew are: Serif: monotype-arial-iso8859-8 Sans-serif, Cursive,Fantasy - the same. Monospace monotype-times new roman-iso8859-8 (monotype fonts are those from NT). I have suspicion that it is just bad font, but how the font used for XUL and inputs is determined?

Hm, I don't see the bug anymore. I think last thing I did with fonts was to move the Windows font directory to the beginning of font path. Could it affect the choise of font? How this font is chosen. Maybe, problem is when a font which is used cannot be properly scaled? But the problem with the Cyrillic port which I reported (bug 106951) still exists.

The font you get in those cases I believe depends on the theme or on the system font. In this case, you might have caused the preferred font for the theme (which was a Windows font) to be picked over the Linix fonts.

Thank you, now I get all working normally. I just had some bad font installed as default. Sorry bothering you.
