From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:0.9.5+) Gecko/20011027 BuildID: 2001102708 I can't save an attachment from the context menu of the mail tool, if i use an IMAP server (MS Exchange). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: a) open mail with attachment at an IMAP server b) right click to the icon of the attachment c) choose "Save as" d) select folder, to save attachment to e) click "Save" Actual Results: The mail tool doesn't save the attachment. Expected Results: The attachment should be saved. Comments: a) I could save the attachment, by double clicking on it (or using "Open" from the context menu) and choosing "Save As", but the context menu doesn't work for me. b) It also works with my local mail folders, so it seems to be a problem of the IMAP implementation. c) I am using an exchange Server on Windows NT (MS-Exchange 5.5.2653.13) d) I have checked that, the directory is not write protected and the disk is not full, etc. e) I have initial reported this as bug 93933 as an front end problem. Now, it seems to be an IMAP problem.

I have remove some personal stuff fromt the log files. The MS-Exchange server is a german version, so the responses are german. It seems, that Mozilla does not try to save the attachment. I hope, it would help.

I have this same problem. I have two accounts both IMAP. One is to a Linux UW-Imap server and the other is to a NT4 Exchange server. No problems with th UW server (except I can't create folders in my public share anymore). The Exchange server, on the other hand, doesn't allow me to save attachments using the right-click dialog. I can only save attachemnts by double clicking on them and opening them.
I haver eproduced and Verified with several builds mozilla 0.98 and 0.99 on linux and mozilla 0.99 on windows 2000. I found a work around until the bug is fixed : Copy the message containing the attachment to a local folder then save the attachment from the local copy. To the original poster of the bug or any bugzilla admin, please change the following bug tags: OS: All Status: Confirmed Severity: Major Keywords: Mail3, mozilla1.0+, verified0.9.8, verified0.9.9

I can't repro this w/ yesterday's 1.0.0 build. perhaps it's server specific?
Verified this bug with build 2002062808 on Linux. Only happens with Exchange server (Microsoft Exchange 2000 IMAP4rev1 server version 6.0.5762.3), not on 2 other IMAP servers. I'm seeing this error in the JavaScript Console: Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x8000ffff (NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED) [nsIMessenger.saveAttachment]" nsresult: "0x8000ffff (NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://messenger/content/msgHdrViewOverlay.js :: saveAttachment :: line 751" data: no] HTH Michael

Affecting Linux as well as NT/2000, marking OSs All Affects other IMAP servers as well as exchange.
OS: Windows NT → All

Ian: Please don't mark OS=ALL if you see the problem only on another win32 OS.
OS: All → Windows 2000

I had the same problem with M$ Exchange 2000. See the (now defunct) bug I raised (http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=196869) which is essentially a duplicate of this.

taking - I know this is unlikely, but if anyone can get me a test account on an exchange server that I can try this on, that would be helpful.

I see the same thing in the 1.4 beta on Windows (and every previous version). My Exchange server is version 5.5.2653.23. How can I help to debug this? It's very frustrating.

Our exchange server has been updated to Exchange 2000. Since the update, i have no more problems to save my attachments. So, i cannot reproduce the problem anymore.

I can still reproduce it. What can I do to help?

I can also reproduce this problem using Mozilla 1.5 on WinXP or Linux/386. The Exchange server I'm using is the same version (5.5.2653.23) as Hamish. Unfortunately, I can't create an account for you (it's not even exposed).

David, does this fix affect bug 92111?
Assignee | ||
Comment 28•20 years ago
|
||
No, that has to do with the exchange server returning an incorrect size for attachments - in this bug, we never even get to the imap server because we error out trying to parse the url to download the attachment.
