Once an awesomebar entry is selected by mouseover it seems to be nearly impossible to deselect it. Dismissing the awesomebar popout, moving the caret, deselecting - these are all insufficient. As a result you can be in an input state where you have a complete URL typed into the address bar, with the caret at the end of it, with no text selected, and when you hit enter Firefox will navigate to an entirely different website.
See desktop capture in URL. I do a normal navigation first then demonstrate various forms of this problem. The navigations are all triggered by pressing 'Enter'.
I consider this a major problem since if it were to navigate me to a URL with a GET action it could cause a (admittedly, poorly-designed) website to delete or alter content. In general unintended navigation is an issue since the unintended page might have an auto-playing video or audio clip and disturb your neighbors/office-mates.

basically what you are saying is that once you are selecting in the popup you are trapped there?
Did you try ESC key, or clicking in the input field?
Fwiw I think once we'll have completed the current design this will be less of an issue cause the first popup entry will do the same action as confirming the input field input (and be preselected)

ESC cancels it but that's because it removes focus from the address bar. Clicking in the input field or moving the caret with the keyboard don't work (those are the things I did in that video). As long as the address bar has focus, the last awesomebar entry you moused over seems to take precedence, even after the completion dropdown goes away.
