I as a contributor would like to be able to filter for threads that have a high number of views, votes this week and me too votes so I can prioritize them as those issues affect a lot of users

Here's some initial mockups for the user stories. Mockups don't show some of the ideas for tabs optimizing special use cases.

For this particular user story, filtering is achieved primarily through sorting. More advanced filtering options are not included, but could be something worth adding.
Thanks Derek!

I got some good feedback on version too (not final though so it might change) Can you also mockup on how the whole "ascending" and "descending" filtering will work if we go with this version?
Jesus I cannot spell, I meant version two the one with the sidebar :)

Here's a mockup moving "My Contributions" to a tab and including asc/desc with the sort options.

Decision in the platform meeting: There won't be "votes" and "me too", there will only be "Votes", but it will display "me too" votes. We'll have a tooltip that will explain what the number means.

I like this option, but I really do not see it fixing my most common issue. "I am sure I answered something exactly the same today, but were is it?"

It is the simple things like "who did I reply to today?" that are about the most difficult in this forum.

I am not a mobile user, nor do I type from left to right. So really the approach of having all the "controls" to the right of content is really not intuitive.

Previously in Get Satisfaction I would monitor answers from new contributors, ensuring a follow up on almost all of them. I simply find no way to do that here.

I think this is a different user story though, this bug is about making sure we have filters that will help us choose the threads that need to be worked on and prioritize the most important ones. You should be able to check your recent history if you select All-> My Contributions but if that is not enough we can talk about it separately.
OK so it seems most votes go to this mockup: http://i.imgur.com/FtRxXjO.png. We also got some feedback about making it collapsible to the right so that people with smaller screens can focus more on the content.

Let's work on this with a few mentions:
* "Read more" needs to still be visible
* there will only be "Votes", but it will display "me too" votes
* keep ascending and descending options (as shown in the mock-up in comment 4)
* make it collapsible to the right

Do not push to prod until we get the chance to play a bit with it on the staging site :)
I was thinking we should have a hybrid view of mockup #1 & #2 as I'm against a sidebar view as well. I just don't like having to move my mouse to that side of the screen then in a vertical fashion to select the choices. Feels like more effort is required.

See my attachment above for the hybrid mockup. There's a few small tweaks I'm considering still.

Also moving "My Contributions" to a tab feels like a good idea but I need to think about that some more though.

Hi

The https://support-dev.allizom.org/en-US/questions/firefox looks weird. I don't see "my contributions" anywhere, "escalated" and "offtopic" are at the top. Were we working using this mockup http://i.imgur.com/FtRxXjO.png or something else?

Hey Madanlina,

I'm not sure why "My contributions" isn't showing for you. It is in the right side column under "Show me" for me.

"escalated" and "off-topic" are now in the "Filters" section as per comment #1 on bug 1074883
This is now on staging: https://support.allizom.org/en-US/questions/firefox?fpa=1&show=needs-attention

Decisions from the platform meeting:

* sidebar needs to be collapsible to the right

* "off topic" needs to be removed as a "filter by" option

* have the same order for the options in "filter by" in all views. escalated should be the last

* change triangle for sort order to make sure it's not confused with the collapsed/expanded triangle

Derek will provide a final mockup including all elements of the page and we'll update the staging site so people can provide feedback.

can i add 2 comments to the mock-up:

- as it is the current state already, the question category and tags are repetitive most of the time. in essence the tags aren't really useful apart from the version number of firefox/fx android/thunderbird - maybe we can use the chance of the redesign and condense those two repetitive sections into one in order to reduce clutter and save space (screenshots to follow).

- the question index view should still include the user who replied last (and maybe the time). this is important information to have available at first glance - if a well known other contributor has answered last, i can consider the issue dealt with and quickly skip such a question for example.
I think that the categories are just a waste of screen space as they form no useful part of the support process. For products other than Firefox they are particularly lacking in information. Mostly I see fix problems and other. Occasionally Calendar. So I pick them as no one else will, not because I have any special expertise.

Having last reply from is useful, but do we need that information to the second? What would be useful would be has anyone else replied but the OP.have they made 5 replies to themselves with more information and no one has replied because the thread has replies?
Madalina, are these good to go? If yes, Rehan will go ahead and implement.

Philipp, Matt you're making good points about tags and categories, we need to rethink how we're using those. However this is a different problem so we will need to deal with it in a different bug. If you could file that it would be great.

Last reply is definitely useful but we probably do not need the exact second when it was made. Let's see what other people think when this lands on the staging site.

Rehan please land the current mockup on stage. Do not push to prod until we give the chance to everybody to play with it :)

The latest mockup is now on stage: https://support.allizom.org/en-US/questions/firefox

Question: the "last reply by X" section doesn't show. Was this left out deliberately for a particular reason or it doesn't show because of it being on stage?
Flags: needinfo?(rdalal)
Flags: needinfo?(iamderekries)
It wasn't in the mockup so I didn't include it.

Pushed a change to stage so the sidebar is now sticky, if it's collapsed it will stay collapsed on all future page loads and likewise if expanded.
Hii all,
Taking Notes from Above , I want to Know about "Report Abuse" part . is that comes when we go for answering the questions? or it come along with question bar(left top with solved and contributed mark in question) ?

"Report Abuse" is part of the individual questions view so it won't be affected by this change.
I'm still confused about the "last reply" section (see attachment). Was it removed from the mockup because it interfered with the new design or was it just left out unintentionally?

If there is no design reason to have it removed then we should keep it. If it gets too long we can remove the time details and just keep the usernames and dates

So green light from me if we keep the "last reply" and tags section.
Attached image thread.png
-moved category from long section under the title to a simplified tag, following philipp's idea.

-added last reply near the date posted section
-if no replies, then last reply isn't shown
-if the question has been solved then just showing "answered x mins ago"
