From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:0.9.5+) Gecko/20011029 BuildID: 2001102903 If you have multiple browser windows open, and conduct searches in more than one window, the results get put into the search pane of every open browser window. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Have 2 Mozilla browser windows open, with sidebars open to the search tab. 2. In the first browser, enter "Mozilla rocks" in the search field. Hit submit. Notice the results get stored in the sidebar of both open browsers. 3. In the second browser, enter "Gojira attacks" in the search field. Hit submit. Actual Results: Even though the first browser is on a search page, it's instance of the search sidebar shows the contents of the second search. Expected Results: I would have expected that each browser instance would have it's own instance of the search sidebar. I would say that this is not super-critical, as the search side bar does display what the search parameters were that it was generated from. But I'd say that the functionality I describe would be useful.

My guess is that this is behavior that some users want they way you describe, and others want it the way it currently is. I can certainly see the argument made by the reporter. But, I can also see the argument against the desired behavior described in this bug being that a user may want to open different results of the same search in different windows (while always being able to consult the same list). CC'ing Marlon for possible ideas on how we may satisfy both groups of users (if in fact usability studies show us that there are two such groups).
