STR: 1. Record a video. 2. Listen back to your video. ACTUAL RESULTS: The tail end of the "starting to record" notification-sound is actually caught on the video. This makes for a jarring, awkward start to your video. EXPECTED RESULTS: The video should start recording *after* the notification has finished. (so, maybe 50-100ms later [guessing]) Sample video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nlm9iHIt0yo Note the "ping" at the beginning of the video. (Ignore the rapid click-click-click noise after that -- that's unrelated, and is coming from the pipes shown in the video. I actually took the video to report that as a building maintenance issue, but then I noticed that the phone's "ding" was partially recorded as well. :) )
Summary: Video camera's "starting to record" sound is caught on video → The end of the video camera's "starting to record" sound is caught on your recorded video
Device: Flame OS Version: 2.1.0.0-prerelease Build Identifier: 20140930160205 Git commit info: 2014-09-30 20:59:29 08be48c7
(I'm up to date on the flame "aurora" channel for updates, up-to-date as of last night.)
I can -just- hear this sound in the video in comment 0, and had to crank the volume all the way on my desktop to catch it. It's definitely the trailing end of a start-recording sound. The next question is whether it's ours or the platform's.
Confirmed on: - gonk: v184 - gecko: aurora:c4a4b04c617c - gaia: v2.1:778ebac47554e1c4b7e9a952d73e850f58123914 With the volume up all the way, in a quiet room, with a quiet recording, during playback you can -just- hear the very tail-end of the start-recording sound at the beginning of the recorded video. The AOSP default is 700ms[1], unless overridden by the media profile in use[2][3]. The contents of my 'backup-flame' (kk) folder (among others) show startOffsetMs="300". It should be trivial to bump this up to e.g. ~400ms and retest. 1. http://androidxref.com/4.4.4_r1/xref/frameworks/av/media/libstagefright/MPEG4Writer.cpp#51 2. http://androidxref.com/4.4.4_r1/xref/frameworks/av/media/libmediaplayerservice/StagefrightRecorder.cpp#1551 3. http://androidxref.com/4.4.4_r1/xref/frameworks/av/media/libmedia/MediaProfiles.cpp#374
Same problem with the version 2.2.
Herdir, could you please provide the detailed build information for your phone? See comment #1 above. On your phone, go to Settings > Device Information > More Information.
