Details

We want to be able to switch from timeline graph to category graph in the overview panel of the perf tool. To be able to build a category graph, we need the backend to also record markers for ticks, so that we can actually group categories together. I think "events" would be better than "markers", i.e. no need for start/end time but just start time.
