From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i586; en-US; rv:0.9.5+) Gecko/20011030 BuildID: 2001103021 Can't insert previously highlighted links into message body of email composer. Normal link insertion works fine. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open mail composer and type url into message body 2. Highlight url 3. Select "Insert -> Link" from menu 4. Click OK Actual Results: Highlighted url in message body should appear as link Expected Results: Highlighted url in message body does not appear as link First noticed in build 2001103021. Build 2001102910 is OK.
Oops, make that: Actual Results: Highlighted url in message body does not appear as link Expected Results: Highlighted url in message body appears as link
confirming the bug-2001-10-31-06 win98 I did the same steps reported here in 4.x. I see that we do not prefill the link in the dlg in 4.x. We consider the highlighted url as link text. After you type the same url as link in the text box then we convert this to appear as a link 6.x is not doing that. I deleted the prefilled text box and entered again but it did not convert the text into a link.

Random comment: I'm surprised this hasn't been fixed. It's a really annoying thing to create a link and not see a link as you never know if it actually worked or not. You always have to check it worked in Drafts or (heaven forbid) in Sent.
