Steps to reproduce:

Precondition:
put the attached .vcf file in phone memory. 
This is a v2.1 Japanese contact vcf file.

Steps:
Contacts->Settings->Import Contacts-> Memory Card



Actual results:

Imported a contact with some garbled contact information.


Expected results:

It should show proper contact details in Japanese characters.

Wait, we support UTF8 to handle non-occidental characters. The file you attached is detected as dos by my text editor (vim) which is not suited for that kind of characters. Ashay, what's the encoding of your vcard file? Where does it come from?

Checked with :sergi, the encoding is Shift JIS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shift_JIS) like the file itself says:
> FN;CHARSET=SHIFT_JIS:あたまやなかさはらあた

Hence, this is not a valid encoding., let's close this bug. If you think this is an error, please reopen.
