I think there's a lot we can do here. I'd love to see a great photo (e.g. https://www.flickr.com/photos/100723318@N04/9880951744/in/faves-mozilladrumbeat/ ) paired with copy along the lines of Your donation allows Mozilla to build a Web that's free, open and accessible to everyone.

I'd keep the social share buttons and add an option to sign up for the mailing list.
