User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:32.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/32.0 Build ID: 20140923175406 Steps to reproduce: created internet shortcut by dragging icon left of address bar to windows explorer. clicked internet shortcut hit F2 to rename Actual results: "ding" error sound, and did nothing. could be due to windows not recognizing the file extension of the shortcut. for some reason, windows explorer won't rename these things, yet it displays as "Internet Shortcut" in details. Expected results: should have renamed the shortcut. there is a registry key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.URL which handles IE's internet shortcuts. a similar one with associated GUIDs should be made for ff. they are shell extensions. the other alternative is to go back to using .url for an internet shortcut and have compatibility with windows again.
WFM with FF32, I can create a shortcut of this page and rename it on the fly by pressing F2.
Works fine for me, the generate a correct shortcut, the file type is "Internet Shortcut (.URL)" in the file properties dialog. I think you should consider your explorer window, the F2 key is working on other files?

that was not the file extension I was getting. searching for files in my computer, I was getting something similar to .webapp files when I dragged. .webapp .webapp^headers^ I had probably somehow gotten chrome as my default browser by accident which uses those kinds of extensions apparently. I take that back, ff uses those file extensions too. but it looks like it got fixed, as I don't see this in 34.0, as currently I can drag to desktop and things are great. thanks, folks, much appreciated! close, please
