I as a visitor want to be able to easily search for other threads/articles if the one I'm on is the wrong one, so that I can find a solution quickly to my problem and stay a happy user

An initial idea http://i.imgur.com/TsHZpys.png There's a call to action at the bottom to either search or ask your own question. If we want people site-wide to start using the search on the site, making it stand out would help. In this case, just using some of that primary orange color to draw people to the search.
