Hello Devon,

Here are the pages that need to be localized.  let me know if you have access issues:

For the following two pieces, you can submit a spreadsheet with the slogans to this bug when complete.  Keep in mind that there usually is a limitation in space, be concise and "localize"  the message, vs. word for word translation.

Hi Peiying,

As part of Rubric’s commitment to keep the FF browser, Android and Web parts up to date in xh, we have already completed the translations for main.lang, firefox/os/index.lang, firefox/partners/index.lang and tabzilla/tabzilla.lang components for mozilla.org and will have af and zu updated accordingly with the translation of these components.  

Please note that I have removed the amounts for the highlighted components as they were included as chargeable items as part of the new project for xh and have updated the quote accordingly.  So for xh only the following components for mozilla.org should reflect amounts as chargeable items:

mozorg/home/index.lang

firefox/os/devices.lang

firefox/os/faq.lang

firefoxos.lang

legal/index.lang


We will submit the translations for firefoxos.lang (mozilla.org) and Marketplace Promotional Badge (Marketing) components on a spreadsheet with the slogans as instructed.

Hi Flod,

I've noticed that only the localized  slogans for firefoxos.lang has been added in r136177. The target strings for the Marketplacebadge.lang slogan is in English. The attached file has two tabs.  One for the firefoxos.lang localized slogans and the other for the Marketplacebadge.lang localized slogan for af, xh and zu.  Can you confirm and add the Marketplacebadge.lang localized slogans for af, xh and zu in r136177 as well.

Sorry, I completely missed the reference to the badge.

Note: Marketplace is considered a brand name, so it can't be localized. I committed the files in r136203, replacing MARKPLEK with MARKETPLACE for Afrikaans. Does it sound right?

I realise some of this is subjective, so I include brief notes about the reasoning in my review:

firefoxos.lang:
Some of the slogans miss the feel of active participant or "webmaker" that I believe these are trying to convey. 

For "Be the future" I prefer "Vorm die toekoms" or "Skep die toekoms"
For "Unleash the future" I prefer "Ontsluit die toekoms".

Does the comment "industry 2013" mean that string won't be used any more?


marketplacebadge.lang
This sounds like the user can search and discover, which I don't think is what this badge is trying to convey.
I prefer "BESKIKBAAR BY DIE Firefox MARKETPLACE"
Not translating the brand name makes it sound quite unnatural to me. It was also a frequent comment in the community QA event, but I guess that was decided by higher powers.

Not sure what I should update (e.g. the first string has 2 translations).

Industry 2013: it was used in 2013 for the partners page, but it doesn't necessarily preclude more uses in the future.

I honestly don't know. Seems like the English posters are still being printed.  While we have it, let's keep everything being worked on.  

It kind of implies that we will have 2015 slogan at some point.  I am not sure who is in charge of this anymore.
