After updating from Firefox 24.8.1 ESR to 31.2.0 ESR activating a menu item in webpage context menus and bookmarks menu by right-clicking the menu item does not work anymore. What happens: The context menu is closed and a right-click is executed at the then current mouse pointer position. What's expected: The highlighted menu item under the mouse pointer should be activated. Note: * The previous behaviour has long been, and still ist, standard behaviour in all applications using standard system functions to display menus, at least in MS Windows. Firefox should not deviate from this UI standard unless there is a very good reason to do so. * The wrong right click even works outside of the Firefox window, if the menu extends over the edge of the window. * The root cause seems to be that the menus are now "transparent" to right clicks, the clicks just go through and close the menu. * See attachment for illustration.
Could you try the basic troubleshooting steps: 1) safe mode: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode 2) clean profile: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles Does it fix the issue with the context menu?
Flags: needinfo?(kl-di)
Sorry, I forgot to mention that the behaviour is the same in safe mode and with a completely new profile. So, no, it doesn't fix the issue.

This also works for me on 98.0a1 (2022-02-06) (64-bit) Firefox Nightly on Windows 10.
