1083746 - the new Webmaker login broke the ability to sign up to Discourse

STR:
Create a new Webmaker account
head to http://discourse.webmakerprototypes.org and choose "Sign Up"
Click the "with Webmaker" button
Expected: you should be able to log into Discourse with your webmaker account
Actual: nothing happens

Pre-existing accounts work fine.

We are planning on promoting the existence of Discourse (and see bug 1038717) at Mozfest. And I'm using it for the first blended learning training with Telefonica, which was supposed to start with a kickoff email and links to the online prep work (which includes quite a bit of Discourse) tomorrow.

We haven't shipped the new login system yet, so that can't be the cause. 

I tried your STR's and was able to successfully create an account on discourse

Is this still happening on your end?

Hrm. Yes, I've done it again, tried in FF and Chrome. This is what it looks like: http://i.imgur.com/pLXuwFS.png

I disabled all adblockers, and don't have any other funny extensions...

I can reproduce this error, but it's very strange how the STR's work

1. If you're signed into discourse, sign out.
2. Load the main page
3. click "sign up"
4. click "With Webmaker"
5. the new window that opens should remain blank - The route `http://discourse.webmakerprototypes.org/auth/webmaker` is returning a 500 error code with no body
6. close the persona window
7. dismiss the discourse sign up modal
8. click "sign in"
9. click "With Webmaker"
10. dismiss the persona popup
11. dismiss the discourse sign in modal
12. click "Sign up"
13. click "with webmaker"

TL;DR;
The sign up flow *works* after using the sign in flow. I have no idea why.

I'm closing this bug as part of the planned deprecation of the Webmaker component on Bugzilla.
